After years of facility renovations, the Fayetteville, VA hospital’s surgical service department found its team offices scattered throughout the hospital. The project mission of Renovate 1C Surgical Suite was to create an office environment that fosters team collaboration and is directly aligned with the surgical procedure area. The resulting 8,000 sq. ft., renovation did just that and more. The surgical office suite now provides a feeling of openness by utilizing generous borrowed light windows and open workstations to bring natural light into the office space. A dividable large conference room supports group interchange for surgical services and other hospital departments. The project also addresses the need for surgical and other on call space by providing a four-room on-call suite that contains two shared bathrooms and a common lounge area, fitted out with kitchenette amenities. Upgrades to the mechanical systems within a new mechanical room and a rooftop air handling unit improve the quality of the air as well as seasonal thermal balance within the project area.
