Master Planning and design for the final phase of substantial construction at the Riverside VA National Cemetery. The scope of work redevelops 50+ acres of land that consists of modernizing existing facilities to meet immediate program needs, design new structures that offer superior accommodations for large ceremonial gatherings and reflection areas and provide the essential infrastructure and landscaping to support the current and final phase of land redevelopment and Interment Areas. The design approach in repurposing the structures as well as creating new further punctuates the intent of the existing design strengths, stressing a respect for past traditions while also transcending it as spatial composition and supporting materials to stimulate the experience, subconsciously reflect, and inspire future hope. Renovation work of existing facilities requires work with the VA and SHPO to follow restoration codes while bringing each to design intent. The Master Plan also includes the balancing of the undeveloped cemetery land including a phasing plan based on 15-year development phases.
